I am taking the time to write this open letter to the USPF Membership to encourage you all to step up to the plate and support our federation.
Many officers and general members of the USPF have worked tirelessly all year to support the Nationals and now as host, the WPF Worlds. Let's recognize that this event will be a truly evolutionary event for USPF Powerlifting. We have come a long way from not having ANY World affiliate to hosting a diverse group of countries all competing here on our home turf at the greatest sports venue in the United States.
Lifters who qualified for this event are in for a real treat...this will be fun...and very interesting. From the Opening Ceremonies to the Awards podium...there is nothing quite like a World Competition.
Many other federations would love to be in our shoes....for them a world competition can only happen within the confines of the USA...but for us that is not the case...our lifters will come face to face with many very experienced foreign lifters. They will be able to say they competed with International Level judging....and stood on the platform with a Gold Medal. Imagine if you will how cool it is to be competing against Russia,Germany,Holland,Ireland,Great Britain,Azerbaijan,Gerorgia,..etc...etc...
The lifters here will also be able to have some very interesting new friends as well in Powerlifting from around the world....don't forget to bring your USA Pins to Exchange!!...and for God's sake bring cameras !!
If you have an opportunity to be on the Internet...let's all show some USPF pride....no need to be haters...just let 'em know how awesome it is to be competing in the USPF in 2009!!
